I'm an oil and gas consultant who has spent years moving between two very different worlds. One week I'm in a boardroom with executives talking turnaround budgets, margin strategy, and capital allocation. The next I'm on location with operators helping shut down a unit, walking a facility, or troubleshooting something that should have been caught six months ago. Same industry. Completely different conversations.

Most people only see one side of that fence. Barrel Brief is what happens when you've seen both. I've worked across Alberta, Texas, and the Gulf region — with major integrated operators, independent producers, and industrial service companies. I started Barrel Brief in May 2026, in the middle of the biggest energy supply disruption in history, because most energy coverage is written by people who read about the industry from a desk. This is written by someone in it. Right now I'm working across refineries and industrial facilities in the Gulf region while the Strait of Hormuz is functionally closed and the world is burning through strategic reserves it can't easily replace. That's the view you're getting here.
